The Blue Flag which is awarded to the towns or villages and leisure boating ports which offer a high quality environment.
This ecology label is difficulty to get...and to keep. You can’t rest on your laurels.
Every year dozens of points are checked out on the spot, concerning: the environment in general (quality of the water in which people will be swimming, making the beaches accessible for the disabled, etc.) and the environment with respect to particularly sensitive points (prevention of risks, processing of waste materials, local environmental awareness campaigns, etc.). The Blue Flag is currently a real European reference.
In 2006, only five towns or villages in the Gironde coastal areas had the right to fly the Blue Flag, and three of these were the resorts which are part of Médoc Océan!
In 2008, the three seaside resort of MEDOC OCEAN were awarded by the Blue Flag.
